For every $30 of solar energy you give us, we'll give you a slab of beer.

So, if you want to start turning your excess solar into slabs, simply register below and our partner Diamond Energy will then be in touch by email.

You've earned it lifting, you've earned it shifting, well now you can earn it exchanging. Yep, for the first time ever the solar energy that your panels are soaking up at home can be exchanged for VB. Which means it's goodbye to selling your excess energy to the grid and g'day to exchanging it with us for VB. And, if the thought of a cold one has not got you licking your lips, our exchange rate will. It's a good result all round.

Eligibility requirements and conditions apply. Click below to sign up.

    Frequently Asked Questions

    Q. Why has VB launched the solar exchange program?

Last year, VB announced that it was going to be brewed entirely by the Australian sun.

VB has achieved its goal of being powered entirely by offset solar energy and continues to demonstrate its commitment to the environment by creating innovative programs with sustainability at their heart, such as Solar Exchange.

While VB is continuing its sustainability goals, this program is all about thanking hard working Australians for their own sustainability efforts.

    Q. Why should I sign up for the VB Solar Exchange?

Every $30 of solar energy you trade with VB will equate to one case containing 24 x 375ml bottles or cans, or 30 x 375ml cans. At a current feed-in rate of 7.0c/kWh, this will provide a great alternative to trading for cash. Please note that feed-in rates are not fixed and may decrease or increase during the VB Solar Exchange program.

    Q. How do I know if I'm eligible to participate in the solar exchange program?

All eligibility requirements for participation in VB's Solar Exchange program are available to view at www.vbsolarexchange.com.au. These will be assessed at the time of your application to join.

    To be eligible you must:

    • Be aged 18 years or over
    • Be located in VIC, NSW, SA or QLD (Energex, only) and connected to the grid
    • Switch to Diamond Energy
    • Be a residential property with a maximum of a 6kW DC solar system (i.e. no businesses)
    • Not be receiving government or distributor funded feed-in tariff
    • Meet the further eligibility requirements at www.vbsolarexchange.com.au

If you fail to meet all of the eligibility requirements, you may lose your participation in the VB Solar Exchange program. To be able to view your daily excess solar exchange to beer, you must have a smart meter installed. If you would like to upgrade to a smart meter please see www.diamondenergy.com.au/your-meter

    Q. Will I have to change energy provider to participate in VB's solar exchange program?

Yes. If you are not already one of Diamond Energy's happy customers - you will need to sign up for Diamond Energy's electricity offer in your region and elect to participate in the VB Solar Exchange, at which time your eligibility to participate will be assessed.

    Q. How often will I be billed & when will I receive my vouchers?

You'll be billed on a quarterly cycle, and all Dan Murphy's vouchers will be emailed once that quarter is complete and you have paid your Diamond Energy bill. If you pay after the due date, your beer may be held over to the next quarter. The quarters are for the periods ending 30 September 2022, 31 December 2022, 31 March 2023, 30 June 2023, 30 September 2023 and 31 December 2023.

You will be eligible to collect from Dan Murphy's a maximum of 24 slabs of VB during your participation in the VB Solar Exchange. Any Feed-In Credits not exchanged for beer will be paid to you by CUB in a prepaid debit card at the end of each quarter after the beer slabs maximum is reached.

    Q. Will anyone have to do any work to my property if I sign-up?

Not if you are already eligible for the program. However, to be eligible to participate, you are required to fulfil several requirements including having an existing solar system on your residential property in addition to a smart meter installed on your premises. Further information about eligibility requirements can be found at www.vbsolarexchange.com.au

The only time work will be required at your property is if you choose to have a rooftop solar system installed in order to be eligible for the program or a smart meter installed to enable viewing the data.

    Q. How long will the sign-up process take?

The sign-up process is facilitated via a simple online form that should take around 10 minutes. Having a copy of your existing electricity bill ready will make the process easy.

Following the sign-up process being completed, customer eligibility is assessed on a case by case basis which can take up to 10 days before you will be contacted.

    Q. Where can I access customer service?

For queries regarding your electricity visit https://diamondenergy.com.au or call 1300 838 009.

For queries regarding the solar exchange and supply of beer visit vbsolarexchange.com.au, call 1800 244 054 or complete the contact form found here.

    Q. How does this fit into CUB's wider sustainability goals?

The launch of the program follows Asahi Beverage' acquisition of Carlton & United Breweries last year. The program is part of Asahi's ambitious sustainability agenda, which includes a goal to be powered entirely by 100% renewable electricity by 2025.
